As an aside, my wife had me buy a mattress for her but she wanted springs. I found one that comes in a box, that unboxes and "expands out" into a spring mattress with pure latex on top of springs.

WEBDec 17, 2009 · My back pain went away after getting a latex bed, so it could work in reverse. A lot of people return a bed because it causes pain. I just attributed it to getting older, so it was a nice surprise to wake up the first morning with no back pain or stiffness. Hopefully the doc wont find anything wrong and you can get a mattress to help her.

Fine for the hips but too firm for my shoulders again. They sent a topper to try, but it was still not quite enough for the shoulders while also making it a little too soft on the hips)

The Ashley Key-West is $1,100 & didn't feel bad, but it didn't wow me. The iComfort is soft enough, but I have no idea what the density is nor am I sold on it supporting my back.
