The first Michelin Guide was created in 1889 by a brother duo in France. The guide now rates over 30,000 establishments in over 30 territories across three continents.

Because of erroneous information provided by Michelin, an earlier version of this story identified the incorrect amount of total awarded restaurants and Bib Gourmand restaurants in Texas.
