BEIRUT, Nov 10 (Reuters) - At least 23 people, including seven children, were killed and six others injured in an Israeli strike on Almat in Lebanon's Mount Lebanon province, the country's health ministry said on Sunday, adding that the death toll was likely to climb.

At least 20 children are among the dead in attacks north of Beirut and in northern Gaza, officials rescuers and medics say.

Israeli strikes killed dozens of people on Sunday in Lebanon and the northern Gaza Strip, where the military has been waging a major offensive for more than a month that aid groups say has further worsened the humanitarian crisis in the besieged enclave.

Israel Prime Minister Benjamin “Netanyahu confirmed Sunday that he greenlighted the pager operation in Lebanon,” his spokesman Omer Dostri was quoted as saying.
