If wind is your most important weather factor for opening morning, the forecast at 7 a.m. shows a light northwest wind for most areas of Lower Michigan and a light north wind for northeast Lower Michigan. Wind speeds should be less than five miles per hour in the white shaded areas and less than 7 mph in the gray shaded areas.

Firearm deer season begins Friday and will last until Nov. 30. With hunters heading out into the wilderness, the Michigan Department of Natural Resources is asking them to remember a few rules, safety tips and recommendations for the season.
