The former head of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams has approached the Supreme Court demanding a judicial probe into allegations of adulteration in the manufacturing of laddu prasadam at the Tirupati Venkateshwara temple. Meanwhile, ‘purification’ rituals were carried out at the temple on Monday to ‘restore’ the sanctity of laddu prasadams.

TTD (Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams) organised a Maha Shanti Homam in the wake of Laddu Prasadam row. Executive officer of Tirumala Tirupathi Devastanam (TTD) Shamala Rao and other officials of the Board participated in the Homamam along with the priests.

Andhra Pradesh CM N Chandrababu Naidu said the SIT would investigate misuse of power and ensure strict action against laddu adulteration. A ritualistic purification will also take place.
