A shooting that claimed the life of a Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority employee at a bus yard late Friday may have been the result of a dispute over money, Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office officials said Monday.

A Valley Transportation Authority employee was shot to death by a coworker over an unpaid gambling debt at a San Jose bus yard, authorities said.

A 33-year-old man who works for the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority was arrested in connection with the killing of a fellow employee at a San Jose bus yard, authorities said Sunday.

Investigators say the shooting suspect and victim took part in “betting activities” together prior to the Friday night violence at a San Jose parking lot.

VTA bus driver, 45-year-old Regulus "Regis" Teotico has been identified as the victim allegedly shot and killed by another employee at the San Jose facility. Sheriff's officials say Teotico and the suspect participated in many of the same activities outside of work.
